Now, while I worry about exposing her to the tween world, I had no trouble introducing her and Charlie to Fluxus at the Hood Museum this week. The kids were taken aback by all the crazy Fluxus kits (we giggled at the poop collection) but what a great contrast to the traditional American wing. We finished off with my favorite collection piece by Sol Le Witt. I take great comfort in his rational abstraction and am so glad the children love it too - they never whine or pull me away - we just sit and enjoy it. Very cool!

Happy Birthday to Marion! I hope you had a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I know what you mean about seeing your child on the cusp of the teenage years. It's quite a challenge to slow the process of letting them go. And go they must... eventually.
At least you can be happy that you have provided them with a childhood that will ground them and guide them on their journey. So many miss out on that.
Love Charlie's photos, by the way.
Whoops, I meant happy birthday-and-a-half, of course!
